Der Professor und das Wasser
(2022)
Shortage of skilled workers, this term has been an integral part of the public debate for years, whether in the German parliament, in newspapers, scientific journals, articles or in political debates. The consequences of the shortage of skilled workers have a major influence on the future development of the Federal Republic of Germany, particularly so for the nursing sector. The problem is especially harshly debated in 2020 due to the devastating consequences of the global outbreak of the coronavirus at the end of 2019 and the effects of demographic changes (Schmidt et al. 2012; Hower, Pförtner & Pfaff 2020).
This bachelor thesis analyzes the personnel management of employers in the German nursing sector in view of the already existing and imminent shortage of skilled workers respectively. This will be examined based on what employers are offering employees, using job advertisements as an example. The following questions are to be examined:
"What does the employer offer an applicant?", "What offers and services does the company attract candidates with?", "Are employers doing enough to successfully recruit employees?", "What can the company do better when writing job advertisements?“ The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the topic of the shortage of skilled workers, the theoretical background and portraits basic explanations. The practical part of the bachelor thesis uses an empirical analysis of selected variables to investigate which benefits, e.g. remuneration and offerings, in job advertisements are used by employers in the nursing sector to recruit employees.
The results of this analysis are then evaluated, assessed and finally interpreted. The results of this thesis will be used to derive suggestions for improvements in personnel marketing (successful recruitment of candidates) and to point out which details need to be considered when drafting job advertisements.
Retail banking provides financial services for individuals and families, and one overlooked aspect has been on international students in Germany. This study aims to discover and rank what are important banking factors for international students at HFU. Building on existing work from other geographical areas, it asks: What are the key factors that international students at HFU consider when choosing a bank?
Based on reviews of past literature, an online survey was distributed to potential respondents via email and social media channels. Analysis of the responses demonstrated that the most important factor is in the following order: (Most important) Security -> Services -> Financial Factors -> Convenience -> Reputation (Least important).
On this basis, it is recommended that banks consider taking into account the top important determinants (such as availability of online banking, cyber security, reliability, financial stability and responsiveness) and the least important determinants (word of mouth recommendation, popularity of the bank, tangibles, bank branches and parking facilities) when tailoring their strategies.
The signs of global warming are everywhere, ranging from highest record temperatures in cities to mega wildfires in the amazon. Heat is melting ice glaciers, contributing to floods and rising sea levels.
Transportation is one of the largest carbon-emitting sectors and it is difficult to meet the carbon reduction goals without a significant improvement in the change from Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles to Electric Vehicles (EVs). EVs are capable of reducing transport related emissions. However, the problem is that EVs on their own haven’t convinced consumers to make the switch and there is a role for policy makers to play.
This study seeks to provide recommendations to support policy makers to come up with measures that if adopted, could increase EV uptake in Singapore. A survey questionnaire has been conducted to discover and understand the factors which affects EV buying decision in Singapore in addition to literature review from past studies.
The main concerns of Singapore car drivers of EVs are that they are too expensive, lack of availability of public charging stations and long charging duration. An experimental component in the survey found that providing information on EVs could increase willingness to purchase an EV.
Analysis from other countries shows that successful governmental policies includes first and foremost, financial incentives to make the prices of EVs as competitive as similar ICE models. Other soft incentives were also implemented which acts as a complement at a later stage of adoption.
Recommendations for policy makers includes actions under the following: National goals/legislation/infrastructure, sales support and availability and quality of information which Singapore policy makers can consider to move towards a renewable and sustainable future.
Prior research found extremeness aversion effects to be common and robust. Nevertheless, most research neglected the spatial arrangement's influence on a consumer's choice and placed the compromise option of a choice set simultaneously in the spatial middle. Following these findings, five bachelor theses were conducted to investigate both aspects by analyzing numerical and spatial choice architectures – their data comprised three online surveys and three field experiments. This study aimed to compare their findings and analyze their data sets to search for overarching effects. Therefore, we hypothesized that there is either information-format compatibility or a general tendency towards the spatial middle of a choice set. To research this hypothesis, we brought the data sets into a comparable format, analyzed our findings, and conducted t-tests to test for statistical significance. Even though the study could not find overarching effects across the data, it supports the notion that a choice set's spatial arrangement, like the numerical one, can influence consumer behavior. Furthermore, it led to valuable insights for future research approaches concerning expanding extremeness aversion into a spatial dimension.
