Sampling of finite elements for sparse recovery in large scale 3D electrical impedance tomography
(2015)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyse how small and medium enterprises in Germany are dealing with the increasing importance of the cultural diversity within a company which is caused by the complex growth of the external economic factors through the rising internationalization as well as the demographical change, whereby the integration of international skilled employees is seen as a key role.
The first part of the thesis focuses on the framework between the basic component of the topic, the value of the company’s culture which is based on Hofstede´s theoretical approach, and diversity management. The following part indicates on one hand the opportunities as well as the threats which can arise when implementing an intercultural integration approach. This comparison should give the possibility to get a better overview of how complex the topic is and how many influencing factors are to be considered for a successful integration. The thesis then covers strategic aspects of how to proceed. Thereby it refers to the acculturation model of Berry and his four acculturation strategies. Furthermore, the comparison of the assimilation and segregation approaches are mentioned and analysed as well as their golden mean. The method to underline the theoretical part is supported by interviews. These interviews, which were held with two “best-practice” companies as well as one independent diversityexpert, give the possibility to get a real overview of how companies deal with this approach and which problems as well as advantages they are facing. The interviews which are not only held with the manager rather than German and foreign employees are important to get a feeling how companies handle the intercultural integration on different hierarchical levels which might prove useful in discovering potential in their own company.
The conclusion of the thesis is that cultural homogenous societies rarely exist today, which means that the cultural diversity shouldn’t be seen as a trend rather than a constant conditionality. Small and medium enterprises should also stop seeing the downside to their size rather than their advantages which also come with their size. Companies have to build a true understanding and consciousness in order to create a cultural diverse friendly environment. Nevertheless, in an ideal case a company does not see the cultural diversity as something special, but more likely as something normal, regardless from which cultural background an employee is, he or she is a member of the company.
The German labour market today is shaped by demographic change and talent shortage. With the rise in competition, more attention has been brought to employer branding, which can help companies gain a competitive advantage by being perceived as a more attractive employer among employees and potential candidates.
Alongside demographic change, studies simultaneously reveal a shift in values. This shift is leading to a change in perceptions of work and organisational culture. These changes show particular evidence of an increased demand for work-life balance and flexibility. Additionally, it has been proven that the COVID-19 pandemic has put further emphasis on options for working from home. Hence, remote work becomes increasingly relevant for a candidate’s decision process when choosing an employer. Therefore, this thesis intends to conduct research aimed to yield clarity on how firms currently communicate working from home or working remotely as part of their employer branding strategy. Based on the findings of the study the thesis seeks to include recommendations for companies on how to approach communication of this matter. The research consists of a content analysis of career websites by companies listed in the DAX and MDAX. The results prove that the majority of DAX and MDAX companies have indeed reacted to the increased demand for working from home. In the study, four communication strategy types are identified, which help to understand how firms approach communicating their remote work options. Each communication strategy type shows a different degree of importance in communicating remote work options. The study further detects relationships between these communication strategy types and a company’s overall projected employer image. Based on this relationship, a recommendation is given. The recommendation seeks to assist companies in deciding how to incorporate the subject of working from home into their employer branding communication.
The primary objective of this study is to determine the direction of Bosch
workshop service concepts in India. The approach is based on Classic Bosch Car
Service, one of the world’s largest independent workshop concept owned by
Robert Bosch GmbH. In the era of high competition where the mindset of
customers is rapidly changing and technology is evolving; therefore, Bosch is
continuously working on developing new workshop service concepts such as
Franchise Bosch Car Service and Digital Bosch Car Service. Therefore, this study
examine two research question a) on which workshop service concept Bosch
should focus in India b) how to increase the number of franchisees for the future
concept. This study focuses on India because it is an emerging market where car
repair industry is growing rapidly.
The first part of the thesis explains the concept of workshop service and
franchising. The second part provides a complete overview (franchise model,
value proposition, etc.) of three concepts. The final part consists of empirical
research which includes the findings from end customer and franchisee surveys.
The findings from practical and empirical part revealed that Franchise Bosch Car
Service (FRC BCS) is ideal for the Indian market and end customer. Therefore,
Bosch should focus on developing its network of FRC BCS in the short term. The
usage of different marketing tools, partnership with financial institutes, individual
onboarding program and approaching private investors will help to increase the
number of franchisees.
In the long-term, Bosch should consider going in the direction of Digital Bosch
Car to increase market share and maintain its competitiveness.
The neuromerchandising group GmbH & Co KG, creates holistic experiences for
customers at the point of sale by leveraging the latest findings of research in
neuroscience and evolutionary biology. In order to find an appropriate research tool
to analyze customers` attitudes at the POS three survey methods are tested,
evaluated, and compared against each other at the example of an attitude survey for
the MyMuesli GmbH. A traditional attitude survey method is less reliable due to
issues with bias compared to the other two methods. Possible reasons for bias are
explained in this work. The projective technique survey, which uses indirect
questions, is rather ambiguous and long, and the third method, which uses a card
game for the responses, is inappropriate for detailed statistical analysis. A
combination of the methods is recommended and suggestions for improvement are
made throughout this work.
