• Ziel der vorliegenden Bachelorarbeit ist die Erforschung ökonomischer Effekte des Corona Virus auf den Berufsfußball. Dazu wird folgende Forschungsfrage gestellt: „Welche wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen hat Covid-19 auf den professionellen Fußball in Europa?“ Um die Forschungsfrage zu beantworten wird eine Literaturrecherche betrieben. Zunächst wird dafür der Profifußball definiert und die Spezifitäten der Branche aufgedeckt. Im Anschluss werden sowohl die finanziellen Daten vor der Krise als auch die aktuellsten Daten herangezogen, um die Auswirkungen analysieren zu können. Abschließend werden mögliche Lösungsalternativen ausfindig gemacht und bewertet. Die Studie zeigt, dass die Branche durch den Wegfall von wichtigen Spieltageinnahmen sowie einer bereits vor Covid-19 bestehenden finanziellen Belastung wirtschaftliche Probleme aufweist. Insgesamt weisen die Ergebnisse darauf hin, dass der Profifußball sich zukünftig nachhaltiger aufstellen muss, um Krisenzeiten besser zu überstehen.
• The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explore the economic effects of the corona virus on professional football. Therefore, the following research question is asked: “Which economic impacts does Covid-19 have on the professional football industry in Europe?” To be able to answer the research question a literature analysis is conducted. First, the professional football industry will be described, and industry specifics will be shown. Subsequent to those definitions, financial data from the period before as well as during the pandemic will be taken to be able to measure the effects of the crisis. Finally, alternative resolutions will be located and evaluated. The study shows, that missing matchday revenues and financial mismanagement from the periods before the outbreak of Covid-19 cause economic problems within the industry. Overall, the results show that the professional football industry needs to line up more sustainable in future, to be able to resist acute crises.
